Where it all started

For me, it began with the Super 8 mm camera and viewer pictured above. My friend and I spent endless days of our childhood using this very gear to make whatever movies we could imagine. Some days it was action. Others it was comedy. We even tried our hand at stop motion animation. Today, my love for making movies has morphed into the storytelling element I bring to photography. I believe people have sides of their lives that typically are not represented in "conventional" portraits. That's where I like to come in, so that story can be shared and remembered. How it works

It begins with you telling me all about the photo you want for yourself. Your personalized portrait starts with a consultation -- no camera, no lights -- just the two of us discussing how we can create the image you want for yourself. This is your chance to focus on the piece of your life you want to record, save and remember. Most likely, it's some aspect that is personally important to you, but is often missed in conventional portraiture.

Then we plan for the shoot. I have selected my photography gear with an eye on mobility, so I will come to you -- or our predetermined location. Generally speaking, it is best to set aside a few hours for the session. This allows us to work collaboratively in way that doesn't feel rushed. And it gives us some freedom to try some different things to make sure we are getting the images you want.

Finally, I will provide you with a link to look over the proofs from our shoot. You select up to three images that you like the most, and then I will edit and prepare those files to be delivered to you digitally. I will provide you with file sizes that are suitable for both posting online and making prints. My charge for these services is $450.
