I'm not one to knock the good luck of being in the right place at the right time.
I have hiked for miles with my camera gear strapped to my back, only to finish the day without clicking a single frame. Nothing I saw that particular day inspired me.
Other times opportunities (maybe even surprising ones) present themselves, and I grab for the camera -- or my iPhone if that's all I've got. I do love the creative process (planning) that goes into the narrative-style photos I make, as well as collaborating with someone for personal portraits. But the unexpected photos certainly have their own rewards.
